College Placement

While the college recruiting process can be challenging and confusing, at Scholar Athlete Consulting we use the basic premise of not only finding the right school athletically for your child, but also finding the right fit for him or her both academically and socially. Here is the process we use to help you find the right school.

THE PROCESS

  1. Initial Meeting
At this time, we will find out about the student's personality, learning style, and academic strengths and weaknesses. We will also learn about your child's athletic interests and help find the proper playing level for him or her. We will also review your child's grades, teacher comments, and any standardized testing results, as well as other outside interests.
  2. Develop a Plan
In developing a plan to find the right school for your child, we will set realistic goals and determine steps to take to achieve them. We will also put together a timeline of activities and important dates to remember including: school visits, application deadlines, essay writing, standardized test-taking dates, important recruiting dates, outside teams to participate with, and camps to attend. We will also make sure your family understands the rules of college recruiting.
  3. Presentation
How to present your child in the best possible light to schools. We don't try to change the student to fit the school. We try to bring out the best in the student, and find the right school. We do this academically, athletically, and by considering your child's other interests.
  4. How to Get Recruited
We will help you evaluate the proper playing level for your child. Everyone has dreams to play at a certain level and we respect that and want your son or daughter to reach his or her goals. We will show you how to receive an objective view of his or her playing ability.
  5. Academic Preparation
Using your child's strengths, we will help prepare him or her in the best possible way for school visits, standardized test taking, essay writing, and the interview process.
  6. School Advocacy
We will use our contacts to make sure your child's schools of choice understand why your son or daughter is a good fit for their institutions.
  7. Making a Choice
We will help guide your family toward the right match. We will also help with financial aid negotiations if needed.
  8. Follow-Up
We will stay in touch with your family to ensure that your child is happy with his or her choice.
